Michael Mulcahy

Michael Mulcahy's expressive, vigorous art combined with impact and rich colour, along with the charged energy and mystique are what have marked Mulcahy as one of the most interesting Irish artists of the past thirty years. His work displays his use of primitive imagery "an elemental, pagan atmosphere, of a wilder place hovering at the edges of the mind." (Gemma Tipton, Circa 93, Autumn 2000). Born in Cork in 1952, Mulcahy grew up in Dungarvan and was educated at Crawford College of Art & Design and at National College of Art & Design in Dublin.
